Three years ago, a 34-year-old was killed at an OSE level crossing that was left unguarded due to a malfunction. The trial, which concluded a few days ago, revealed a series of errors and operational gaps in railway safety matters in Greece.
“Just like the Tempi accident, the death of this man could have been prevented if everything had been carried out as stipulated by the OSE traffic regulations, which explicitly set out the obligations and responsibilities of the stationmaster, as the person responsible for train traffic safety, and of the train driver,” attorney Ioanna Dakou told “K”, who together with Kostas Parìgoris took on the representation of the 34-year-old’s family.
